Welcome To Graham County Vets POW-MIA Tribute Site
This site is dedicated to all POW-MIA's of all wars and to all known regestered POW-MIA's during the Vietnam War from the State Of North Carolina! The site is sponsered as a joint project of Eller-Huffman-Rogers American Legion Post #192 and Carringer-Webster VFW Post 8635! It is a place of dignty and respect for all of our Brothers who were denied the ride home of the "Freedom Bird"! Always remember, these Brothers went freely and awnsered when called upon! All of them taught us the truest meaning of DUTY,HONOR,COUNTRY! We take this time to say a Silent Prayer for them wherever they may be, be they in a final resting place or be they in a captors cell.
Our Father in Heaven, Only you,the great Creator of all men truly know the whereabouts of these brave men. Father, We send with our prayer ,"Our Thanks For Their Service" and will always pay our never ending "Honor" to them. Amen

While we have 1 former WW2 POW from Graham County and he is honored on this page Graham County was lucky when it came to Korea & Vietnam. This site Honors a adopted POW-MIA from the Vietnam that was adopted by Danny Siler, Presently Cmdr. & Service Officer of Legion Post 192 so a project like this could be accomplished on behalf of our Legion and VFW members alike. After a recent Veterans Program at school and during discussion with a sponsoring teacher I found out about a LACK of the history of not only Vietnam but of all Wars & Conflicts! This site is but a small attempt to rectify the problem. Also ,we hope that this site can be used by the school system to help teach the events that took place in South Vietnam from 28 Feb 1961- 07 May 1975 although most all U.S. Service personnel had left in 1972. What you are about to read about is our fellow North Carolina Brothers, and others and Honor them.

According to Information from the National League of POW-MIA Families, At the end of the Vietnam War there were reported 2,583 Americans unaccounted for.

As of 07DEC05, 1,812 Brave & Honorable Americans are still so listed by the Defense Dept.,over 90% of them in Vietnam,Laos and Cambodia.

He ,along with several other GI's were able to escape shortly before the 2nd Atomic Bomb was dropped and witnessed it. He also organized the Annual Battan Reunion which held its lastmeeting this year.
